Sports World doubles training hours with Totara Learn

Grupo Sports World is the leading family sports club company in Mexico and the only public company in the wellness industry in Latin America.

Within its facilities, Sports World offers a wide range of personalized athletic activities and programs, training services, as well as general health and nutrition. All these services are offered based on the latest international trends.

The Challenge

Grupo Sports World was interested in offering its employees a well-rounded learning experience.

They started working with another LMS, but faced several complications such as a lack of functionality, lack of tracking for instructor-led training, limited courses and a limited technology adoption curve for employees.

That is why Sports World decided to look into a more robust platform that would allow for the preservation of historical training reports and synergy with their ongoing projects, including the integration to PeopleSoft, generating savings in administrative work.

The Solution


Sports World worked with Totara Partner Aura Interactiva to implement Totara Learn, with some of the key features and functionality including:

  • Much more robust reporting, helping employees and managers understand knowledge levels
  • Safeguarding employee information proved essential to Sports World’s ongoing audit programs
  • Totara’s flexibility facilitated the implementation of a blended learning model where about half of courses were self-paced and half were live video-based, with excellent employee adoption
  • The client was able to double content offering by leveraging Totara’s vast offering of learning activities.
  • Easier navigation and access of all relevant content in one platform
  • The production of content is one of the most important aspects in a successful implementation, and thanks to Totara’s multiple learning activities, they managed to double their educational offer
  • Better interface personalization, aligning with their corporate image
  • Supporting the entire organization, including sport clubs and corporate managers, that doubled down on their platform use to be productive, even when in quarantine


The Results

Since Sports World’s implementation of Totara Learn, training hours have doubled as a result of employees staying up to date on COVID-19 issues. So much demand was generated during the pandemic that the courses needed a major update; therefore all training resources were overhauled. This resulted in a major corporate culture switch, where the platform was embedded into the daily flow of work.

The co-creation of elements within the platform incentivized the participation of users by allowing them to navigate the platform to its full extent and inviting them to continue progressing in their learning paths.
