The Challenge
Maurea needed to replicate their well-regarded language and cultural competency training in an online format that supported both self-paced and blended learning. Maintaining the integrity of the learning experience was essential to reflect the high standards they were already known for.
They were looking for a flexible platform that offered standout visual design and a seamless user experience. It had to integrate smoothly with Chameleon Creator, their preferred authoring tool, and support their current needs while offering long-term scalability and future-focused functionality.
Just as important was finding an implementation partner who could provide support when needed, collaborate effectively with their internal team, and integrate with Maurea’s existing systems.
The Solution
Totara proved to be the ideal solution for Maurea, offering more functionality than they initially anticipated. It supported a wide range of learning experiences, and the use of Totara dashboards helped create a smooth, intuitive journey from landing page to course content.
Strong visual design, combined with smart use of Totara’s native authoring tools and externally developed SCORM modules, delivered engaging content with the right level of interactivity to meet the needs of their audience.
A key part of the project’s success was the integration of Totara Learn with Workato and Shopify. This setup enabled course sales through Shopify while keeping admin overhead to a minimum. Workato’s automated workflows, or ‘recipes’, handled the data handover with very little need for manual intervention. Its built-in debugging tools and transaction monitoring also made troubleshooting fast and efficient.
The collaborative integration across Totara Learn, Workato, Shopify, and Like-Minded Learning was both innovative and effective. Best of all, there’s still plenty in the pipeline, with more automation and integration features planned for the future.
The Results
In the short time that the site has been live, there have already been 30-40 sales and several group enrolments. For a small provider that usually only deals with a limited number of learners through face-to-face workshops, this is a significant shift. Totara has also provided better oversight of completions and tracking, allowing for improved monitoring and reporting. It has saved a huge amount of time and administration through self-service via the online Shopify site. Totara was also extremely quick and easy to implement and allows them to upscale going forward as the site grows.
The whole process was very easy, and integrating directly into Shopify has taken a lot of the hassle away. One of the main reasons we chose Totara was how it handled and worked with our eLearning content. It worked exactly as we intended.
